As far as we’re concerned, every Chinese food lover in Transcona should know about Hung’s Garden. This local favourite serves up some of the best Cantonese and Szechuan cooking in the city. While Hung’s is known for its impressive lunch buffet, we also think it’s an ideal spot for dinner with the kids. The cuisine (which includes everything from chow mein to egg foo young) is a cut above what you’ll find at most similarly-priced restaurants, and its interior is both comfy and tastefully decorated. If you bring the family to L’Arche Tova Cafe, we can pretty much guarantee that everyone will have a great meal. We’re especially big fans of the all-day breakfast options! But there’s more to this charming cafe than delicious food. Part of L’Arche Tova’s aim is to provide meaningful employment for people with disabilities, which means you can enjoy warming dishes while supporting a segment of the community that often gets overlooked. 4) Sevala’s Ukrainian Deli

We all know Winnipeg is a great place to be if you’re looking for top-notch Ukrainian food. While there are plenty of places in this city that serve up the classics, one of our favourites is right here in Transcona. Located along Victoria Avenue West, Sevala’s Ukrainian Deli is a must-visit for families in the area. Here you’ll find nine types of perogies and four varieties of cabbage rolls—along with other staples like borscht and meat pies. We love the hearty-yet-flavourful fare at Sevala’s, and we have no doubt that your family will, too.

5) Smitty’s

Smitty’s may be a franchise, but that doesn’t make the food any less delicious. Known for its fluffy pancakes, juicy burgers, and warm hospitality, this family-friendly restaurant has a special place in the hearts of many Winnipeggers. Those with little ones will be pleased to discover the kids’ menu, which offers up a pretty impressive selection—including healthy sides, like fresh fruit and veggies.
